The Victoria Falls Bridge was designed by the Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company of the United Kingdom. The bridge was originally referred to as the Great Zambezi or Zambezi bridge, later becoming known as the Victoria Falls Bridge. It was constructed between 1904 and 1905 and was part of Cecil Rhodes vision of connecting a railway line from Cape Town in South-Africa to Cairo in Egypt. A vision which unfortunately never was fulfilled!
